The Wyoming Stable Token Commission said on September 2 local time that it had adopted Chainlink Proof of Reserve to verify the reserve assets backing the state-issued Frontier Stable Token (FRNT). Established under the Wyoming Stable Token Act in March 2023, the Commission launched FRNT in January 2026 and described it as the first fiat-backed, fully reserved stable token issued by a public entity in the United States. The release said FRNT is backed by U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasury securities, and that income generated from the reserve assets helps diversify state revenue and support Wyoming's School Foundation Program for public-school funding. Under the arrangement, The Network Firm examines FRNT's reserve assets and token supply in accordance with standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), while Chainlink Proof of Reserve transmits the verified data to the blockchain in near real time. The Commission has already been publishing daily attestations on its website. The U.S. GENIUS Act (Public Law 119-27) requires monthly disclosure of reserve composition and circulating supply, as well as independent examination of month-end reports. The release said the new system could reduce the information gap between monthly reports. The Commission said it had selected Chainlink Proof of Reserve as its sole onchain asset verification infrastructure. The Block reported that the move expanded the partnership after FRNT's cross-chain infrastructure was fully migrated in August from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). Secure Mint, which would block the issuance of new FRNT when reserve assets fall below the token supply, was described as capable of helping mitigate the risk of infinite-mint attacks, but it is not yet operational and the Commission is still in the process of adopting it. The release did not provide the address of FRNT's onchain data feed, its precise update frequency or the total amount of reserve assets at the time, making it difficult to check the new onchain verification records directly from this announcement alone. The measure therefore adds onchain verification to the existing daily attestations, but does not itself guarantee the custodian's solvency, the legal segregation of reserve assets or users' ability to redeem immediately.

Making reserve-verification data available onchain may help discrepancies between FRNT's supply and reserve assets be detected more quickly, but a blockchain does not guarantee the underlying data or the scope of the examination. With both cross-chain connectivity and onchain reserve verification concentrated in Chainlink, it is also necessary to consider whether an outage or error at the shared provider could affect both functions. When won-denominated stablecoins are designed, disclosures should identify who holds and examines the reserve assets, who transmits the data, who can halt issuance, and what fallback procedures would operate if a critical service provider became unavailable.
